This singular sensational "group" from the late sixties had great vocal balance, artistic soul, and electricity. "Champagne Soul" (Wickipedia) perhaps describes the sound best. Although Alto-Soprano Marilyn McCoo usually steals the stage, the group shares the work. The album, by today's standards is short, but full of memorable hits: Aquarius, Up, Up and Away, Stoned Soul Picnic, and Never My Love featuring McCoo (Live). The group consisted of Ron Townson, Billy Davis, Jr. Marilyn McCoo, Lamonte McLemore, and Florence LaRue. The lofty voyagers did not remain together too long, but the brief orbit of The Fifth Dimension extends far in the few chart-stopping hits they had. A must have for your "emerging soul" collection.
